In early 2005, Advance Days started to be held in Moosonee and Moose Factory. These are common in other remote communities and provide clients with a chance to meet with lawyers on the day before court is scheduled. The ultimate purpose is to ensure that when clients appear before the court, they have already had the benefit of legal advice so that their cases will not be delayed. Advance Days were held for several months and further dates are under consideration.

Advance days were organized by Nishnawbe Aski Legal Services and used facilities provided by Keewaytinok Native Legal Services in both communities. Luke Sainnawap, a Community Legal Worker from Big Trout Lake, made several trips to Moosonee to help get the Advance Days going. Moosonee Native Friendship Centre Courtworkers Lawrence "Logan" Jeffries and Pauline Sackaney put in long days helping to get clients in touch with lawyers and legal aid. Lawyers participating in Advance Days have included Kim Cogar, Julie St. Onge, Leonard Ellery, Nancy Cooper and Gerrit Verbeek. Advance Days would not have been possible without the support and involvement of Tom Fitzgerald, the director of Crown Attorneys in Northeastern Ontario.
