Keewaytinok Native Legal Services is a non-share capital Ontario corporation. Membership is open to persons resident in Moosonee, Moose Factory, New Post, Fort Albany, Kashechewan, Attawapiskat and Peawanuck.
The agenda for the annual general meeting included reports from the chair, treasurer and executive director as well as the election of members to the board of directors. Six positions on our board of directors for people from Moosonee and Moose Factory were filled.. The remainder of our board of directors is composed of representatives nominated by area First Nations.
In conjunction with the annual general meeting, we held planning sessions on June 14th and 15th. These planning sessions are an important part of our annual general meeting. Last year, we held two days of sessions on setting service priorities. This year we focused on governance issues and issues of general interest about the legal system in our area.
Our annual general meeting was followed by a workshop on Issues in Negotiation.
