The clinic is administered by a volunteer board of directors chosen from the area communities. The current chair is Ken Wesley of Moosonee. John Paul Nakochee of Fort Albany is the cochair and Marilyn Iserhoff of Moosonee is the secretary-treasurer. The board of directors is responsible for setting service priorities for the clinic, ie. deciding what kinds of legal work that we should do.

A brief description of how we operate is found in our Principles of Operation. This is a policy document that was adopted by the board of directors.

The clinic has a full time staff of four:  an executive director/lawyer, staff lawyer, community legal worker and office manager.

Our funding comes from Legal Aid Ontario, an agency of the government of the Province of Ontario. In addition to funding more than seventy clinics, Legal Aid Ontario provides judicare services and operates a number of specialized staff offices. In Ontario, judicare is commonly known as the certificate program. Individuals who need legal assistance and who qualify under financial and case selection guidelines may be issued with legal aid certificates that are accepted by many Ontario lawyers. Until 1999, Legal Aid Ontario was known as the Ontario Legal Aid Plan and was administered from its inception in 1967 by the professional governing body of Ontario's lawyers, the Law Society of Upper Canada.
