Kashechewan Career Day February 20, 2004
Held at Francine J. Wesley Secondary, Kashechewan and including students from Peetabeck Academy in Fort Albany.
Careers in Law presented by Paul Lantz from Keewaytinok Native Legal Services and Patricia Faries, Barrister and Solicitor, Moose Factory, Ontario.
Pictures from Careers in Law presentations at the school in Kashechewan as well as sights on the winter road that runs from Moosonee to Fort Albany, Kashechewan and Attawapiskat. The trip takes about three hours each way to Kashechewan. The road is heavily used for transporting fuel and other supplies. Many people from the coastal communities use the road to come to Moosonee to shop for groceries and supplies. The road generally runs through bush and swamp but also crosses the Albany river. If you are thinking of taking the trip remember, the road is only open in the depths of winter, there are no service stations along the way and the only way to get your vehicle to Moosonee is to load it on the train in Cochrane.
